Records Of The Week

Yep, this is a new feature of ours.  Every Monday we will give you a lo down on our favourite new single and album of the week that we think you, the good people, should listen to.   We are too busy to review them ourselves this week so we have used descriptions courtesy of Rough Trade Records.  Cheeky ;)

ALBUM: BLACK LIPS 200 Million Thousand
Garage rock veterans, the Black Lips follow up the widely successful 'Good Bad Not Evil' with the release of '200 Million Thousand'. Simple, straightforward songwriting mesh perfectly with the Black Lips distinctive howl to create a time capsule rife with nods to simple pleasures and a world of worry. it's vintage lips from start to finish. A snotty 14-track celebration of unadorned rock n roll and no-bullshit songwriting. Let the good times and party start once once more. On vice records...

SINGLE: HOCKEY Too Fake
Hockey, who hail from Portland, Oregon release their debut uk single 'Too Fake' through Virgin Records on a limited edition 7" only. The band's debut album will be out later this year. What does Hockey sound like? Imagine a spoonful of Lcd Soundsystem a splash of The Strokes and a big melodious dollop of guitar - fuelled energy. Who does Hockey like? Everyone from Talking Heads, William Blake, Frank O'Hara, and M.I.A.
