The XX are are an understated, minamalist and hauntingly soulful South London Quartet. They make excellent lo-fi, laid back, new wave pop with dead simple instrumentation, sampled beats and boy-girl vocals. Obvious influences would be The Cure, Massive Attack and Coco Rosie but they also claim Missy Elliot to be an influence so their sound is a real fucked up fusion of things. They are going to be releasing records through our good pals Young Turks.
" The xx are a hot to trot teenage quartet from SW London who play bafflingly ace moody hip-pop with bass so thick you could cut it with a carving knife."
Leonie Cooper - The Guardian
